How to do search and replace in vi
OSXFAQ Reader Tip By Jim Kelly
Say you've opend a document named "test" in vi
vi test
you want to find every instance of blah and replace it with uhuh
do this:
hit the esc key once
:%s/blah/uhuh/g
presto chango vi will replace every instance of the first pattern with the second pattern
if you only want it to replace the first instance with the second do
:s/blah/uhuh/
