OSXFAQ Reader Tips
Waking A Dead Jaguar
OSXFAQ Reader Tip By Johan Larsson
Here's a tip for getting Jaguar back up and running. It's not very
sophisticated, bit it worked for me.
After installing iMovie3 and iPhoto2 on Saturday the fuses blew in our
house. I changed fuses and restarted the house, which consequently
rebooted my iMac DV 300 mhz. Unfortunatley it couldn't get further than
the white screen on blue background (after which one usually sees a
progress bar together with some text).
I tried all the tips I could find on your site as well as Apple's but
nothing seemed to help.
I even fixed permissions a few times using the Disk Tool. Nothing. The
bootup stuck in the same place every single tilme.
Solution: reboot from the Mac OS 9 CD (don't let it reinitialize the disk!!!)
and restart the computer.
Maybe it was luck, but for anyone out there with a dead Jag it could be
worth a try.
Enjoy :-)
If you would like to see your tip here send it to us at contribute@osxfaq.com, You could be famous too!!
