An Easy Way To Securely Delete Files

OSXFAQ Reader Tip By Harvey Rubinstein

For those (of us) not too keen on mucking about in Terminal and still desire to securely delete, and have Stuffit Deluxe:

Open Applications/Stuffit Deluxe/Stuffit Drag and Drop and then drag the Secure Delete application to the dock (or make an alias of it and place it where ever it will make your heart happy.)

Then, when you want to securely delete a file/folder/document, just drag the "doomed" to the Secure Delete icon that is in the dock. And since the dock supports drag and drop, the application automatically opens and voila! But be careful. There is no undo and the data are immediately overwritten 3 times.

NOTE: Since this capability has always resided within Stuffit Deluxe, you may want think about this tip a bit. All I did was streamline the process.

Enjoy :-)
